Anderson Rays of Hope Trust Children’s Home
Anderson Rays of Hope Trust Children’s Home launch | 9th February 2024
It is amazing what hard work and dedication can amount to.
Join our vision for the future for children in need of a home and care.
We are excited to announce that as of February 9th, 2024, we have opened the first building for the Children’s Home and have our first two residents, twin girls Hope and Jane.
It is estimated that there are between 250,000 – 300,000 orphaned children in Kenya, with roughly 7% being under the age of five years old.
With no government-operated facilities and no foster-care program to care for these children, thousands live on the streets of nearly every city.
Machakos County (one of our bases of operation in Kenya) contains over 1,000 such children.
It is for this reason, that we broke ground in October 2022 on what will become the “Anderson Rays of Hope Orphanage” in Tala, Kenya.
This facility will house 200 boys and girls as old as 18 years old.
In addition to providing a loving home and medical care, Anderson Rays of Hope will also provide:
- Classrooms for K-12 education
- Recreation areas
- Industrial kitchen and cafeteria
- Vocational education for workforce training
In accordance to Giving Hands’ commitment to caring for our world as well as its population, the orphanage will also be environmentally green with biodigesters providing for its fuel needs.
Finally, whereas most orphanages in Kenya cannot care for infants and toddlers due to staffing limitations,
Anderson Rays of Hope will be able to accept children as young as a month old.
As of January 2023, the construction of Anderson Rays of Hope has received 58% of the required $165,000 needed to fund its construction and first year of operation.
